The brief was to compare and contrast six aspects of these six metro systems; Berlin, London, Moscow, New York, Paris and Tokyo. This had to be presented on one A1 sheet without using a key, numerical tables, pie/bar charts or any copyrighted material.
I wanted to create a system which allowed you to see the relationship between these metro systems at a glance. I used a hexagon for the basis because of the tessellation it allowed. The texture inside the hexagons reflected the characteristic I was comparing.
