The School of Life (TSOL) is a global organisation founded by philosopher Alain de Botton to help people lead more fulfilled lives. They offer classes, therapy sessions, organise events, and create products around the theme of emotional intelligence.

As Head of Design I led on all aspects of TSOL’s visual output, including:

  • Brand – directing the overall visual and brand strategy, updated brand guidelines for all global branches, introduced a new visual language of TSOL’s curriculum and Learning & Development courses
  • Product – worked with the in-house marketing team and our external developers to overhaul both the retail website and The Book of Life, Alain’s articles on emotional intelligence, with modular responsive designs; also introduced refinements to the TSOL app
  • Retail – marketing campaigns, signage and interior design refresh for the London flagship store
  • Conference – created the visual language and design assets for the inaugural TSOL Conference including venue wayfinding, literature and merchandise
  • Art direction – introduced a new photography style for both one-off and regular shoots whilst reducing overall spend on photography
  • Management – managing and commissioning designers and photographers, project management
